Demonosound was an underground record label, publisher and mailorder, founded by Niko Skorpio in 1993. Demonosound functioned as a label for a number Finnish and international underground artists (including Skorpio’s own projects), as well as publisher the Hammer of Damnation zine. Demonosound releases were eclectic and outsiderish, often falling between genres and as such rather hard to categorise.
Demonosound also published a quarterly newsletter / mailorder catalogue which occasionally featured interviews and other content that for reason or another didn’t end up in the Hammer of Damnation zine.
In 1997 Skorpio founded a new label, Some Place Else, under which Demonosound continued as a sublabel. However, Demonosound activity ceased shortly after, only to return briefly in 2004 as ‘Demonosound Magickal Artifacts’ for special handmade releases.
