Selected Works 2003—2006 presents the highlights, and perhaps the deepest depths, of various Kaaos In Eccentris sessions from the active period of 2003—2006. Available as free download, the album documents a unique fusion of diverse creative individuals driven towards a mutual goal directed by the emerging sound itself.
The Hidden Nameless is perhaps Niko Skorpio’s purest dark ambient album, yet executed with an experimental and innovative angle. With certain haunting Lovecraftian flavour, the album captures the ears of imaginative listeners with its extreme deepness and desolate, otherworldly atmosphere.
NeitherSphere EP contains two radical new mixes presenting different aspects of the key track from the highly acclaimed Half Born in Half Light album.
The basis of this work was Niko Skorpio’s old cassette tape collection from the 1980′s. Containing mostly heavy metal demos and live bootlegs, the dozens of kilometres of obsolete tape were sacrificed on the altar of creation. Magnetic tape — as a symbol of DNA — was deconstructed, cut, mangled, eaten and torn apart by a number of malfunctioning cassette players. These emerging mutations were captured, processed and reconstructed, over and over until a new form began to take shape. Carefully chosen and prepared additional ingredients were then introduced to this primal tissue in order to impregnate it with a new kind of energy. Metaphorically speaking, soul was injected into the golem.
Short Cuts & Dead Ends is a compilation album that consists of rare and unreleased material by Niko Skorpio from the period of 2000–2004. Two sold-out EPs (ChAmber MooSick & Stainway to Heaven), rough demos, remixes, tracks destined for compilations that never happened etc.
Grey Bloom Complete gathers early material by Niko Skorpio from 1996–98, containing the tracks from Grey Bloom LP originally released 1998, and recordings done for the defunct Cold Once Turning Dust project. Remastered autumn 2007. The recordings were made on a portable Fostex 4-tracker. Tape hiss, crackles and other noises are considered essential, inherent elements in these recordings and have thus been preserved in amounts optimal to create and maintain the particular atmosphere.
Half Born in Half Light is based on the foundations of psychedelic ambient soundscapes and darkly majestic bass drone, over which tribal rhythms and magickal vocal invocations build grotesque alien monoliths whose angles mock the euclidean mathematics of conventional composition. Qliphothic emanations bound into sound, yet provided with keys to command them all. Nevertheless, play at your own risk only.
The wondergirl of Finnish dark ambient soundscapes is back with a new album. Revisited is based on field recordings made during Ovro’s tour in Russia in 2006, subsequently processed and treated in the studio. Revisited is a powerful aural travelogue. It will lull the listener to a state of receptive trance, and then starts working on the subconscious mind. Let yourself go, lose yourself in the sound, expect lucid dreams, out-of-body experiences, alien apparitions and a shower of sound massaging your body throughout.
