Book of Flies was recorded live at an "Afternoon Ambience" event in August 2004, and released shortly after in a very limited edition (only 13 copies) CDR packed in old book, all hand-assembled. Reissued in January 2008 as part of the Some Place Else digital download series, presented with new artwork, sound restored from the original minidisc recording. Track indexing has been changed (compared to the original CDR release) for more convenient playback in mp3 players.

"The big surprise of the evening was Niko Skorpio, who had for the night selected pure-form gloomy ambient as his style of choice. He created a smooth, all-encompassing soundscape with a guitar, a laptop and some few mixing tools. There were several differing sound segments, with the tones and rhythms changing between them, but it all formed a clear harmonic whole.
